Benefit Kids Benefit Cleveland, a unique fundraiser and student exhibition to benefit the Cleveland School of the Arts (CSA) Visual Arts Department, will be held on Saturday, April 28 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm, at Shaheen Gallery – Modern & Contemporary Art (740 W. Superior Avenue). This event will display the art of the many talented students at CSA. Their drawings and photography will also be available for purchase. There will be a silent auction of wine tastings and dinners in collectors’ homes. Some homes will have important Cleveland artists as guests. A “wish list” of equipment that the Visual Arts Department needs will be posted so guests can purchase items (i.e. cameras, tripods, lights) for the school.

Jane Frankel, who along with Eileen Roth, are Co-Chairs of Benefit Kids Benefit Cleveland, stated “A year ago I shared my dream of showcasing the photography of the talented students at CSA with their teacher, Toni Starinsky. After many months of work, that dream is coming true.”

Tickets are $50 per person and include hors d’oeuvres/cocktail reception & free valet.

Established in 1981, Cleveland School of the Arts (CSA) is a specialty arts school of choice within the Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD). CSA has been recognized as a State of Ohio School of Promise for the past six years. Currently more than 630 students are enrolled in grades six - twelve. The school’s curriculum offers a joint college preparatory academic program and a pre-professional arts program in six majors: Creative Writing, Dance, Graphic Design, Instrumental & Vocal Music, Theatre and Visual Arts. CSA draws students from all over the city and surrounding districts. 99 percent of the students graduate, of which 100 percent are accepted into institutions of higher learning, with many receiving substantial scholarships.

Established in 1982, Friends of Cleveland School of the Arts (FCSA) is a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization whose mission is to create an environment that empowers children with the opportunity to achieve excellence through an arts education. FCSA has raised millions of dollars to support innovative artistic and academic programming for CSA students. Funds raised have provided program enhancements, and support for artists-in-residence, art supplies, exhibits, productions, musical instruments and so much more. In 2005, FCSA completed a matching 1.5 million dollar endowment campaign through the “Talented Students in the Arts Initiative” of the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation and the Surdna Foundation, one of only five schools nationwide to receive the honor. Today, FCSA works in strategic partnership with many generous local, regional and national contributing funders to raise awareness, advocacy and funding in order to design a premier creative, visual and performing arts school in University Circle, Cleveland.
